The Auxiliary board is an option for those just beginning to deploy the CTR2 system. It provides two options:

Option 1 – Singe Radio Control

The first option provides a single Radio I/O interface for the HMI by adding Radio I/O module circuitry to the Auxiliary board. If you are just starting out with CTR2, or only have one radio, this might be the option you want to start with. You can always convert an Option 1 board to an Option 2 board in the future by opening JP5 through JP10 to remove the Radio I/O circuit and adding RJ45 jack J4.

This board comes fully assembled and tested as shown in the lead photo. JP5 through JP10 are installed. Option 1 does not include J3, the RJ45 jack.

Controlling one radio

Option 2 – Multiple Radio Control with Manual Switching

Option 2 does not include the Radio I/O circuit, it just adapts the HMI‘s Radio I/O 10-pin ribbon cable connector (J4) to the RJ45 jack (J3). This option requires an external Radio I/O module for each radio. To control two or more radios, connect the RJ45 (J3) jack on the Auxiliary board to the common port of a manual RJ45 switch using CAT5 cable. Radio I/O modules are then connected to the switched ports on the RJ45 switch. The operator uses the push buttons on the RJ45 switch to route one of the switched ports to the common port and on to the HMI.

Any number of manual RJ45 switches can be ganged together to add additional radios to the CTR2 system.
