Description
I have to admit, the 3D enclosure that Neil, G7UFO, designed is cool! If you have buyers remorse because you bought your CTR2-Dial before the new 3D printed enclosure came out, you’re in luck. I’m offering just a 3D enclosure kit without the encoder(s), knob(s), CW paddle jack, or license fee (because you already have them). It comes with the shell, base plate, 4 screws, 6 silicone rubber feet, and new labels. Just move your M5Dial, encoder(s), and/or CW paddle jack from the old enclosure to the new enclosure and you’re in business.
If you’re interested in just the components to build a CTR2-Dial with your own M5Dial, consider buying the CTR2-Dial in Kit form. It comes with everything you need including a firmware license. Just add your M5Dial and flash the firmware to it.
The photos in the photo gallery show how easy it is.
1. Install the new label and six silicone rubber feet on the bottom plate.
2. Move your M5Dial from the CNC enclosure to the 3D enclosure.
3. Plug in a USB-C cable into the M5Dial and align it so it is exactly centered in the USB slot in the back.
4. Use a small screw driver to tighten the orange locking nut on the M5Dial and recheck the USB alignment. If it’s off the display will be slanted.
5. Move your encoder from the CNC enclosure to the 3D enclosure, making sure to center the encoder in the rails on the base plate, and route it’s cable to Port A on the M5Dial. You’ll need the 1.5mm Allen wrench supplied with the CTR2-Dial to remove and install the aluminum knob on the single-encoder model.
6. Move your other encoder (if you have a dual-encoder model) or the CW paddle jack from the CNC enclosure to the 3D enclosure and route it’s cable to Port B on the M5Dial.
7. When you’re happy with the display alignment (that’s why you carefully aligned the USB plug in step 3), apply a small amount of glue from the M5Dial’s body to the locking ring and to the base plate to lock it in place.
8. Place the base plate on the shell and install the four M3 screws. Be careful not to over-tighten them.
