EspressIF has released a browser based flash download tool for the ESP32 micro controller. This tool can be used instead of downloading the the Windows based EspressIF Flash Download tool. It is compatible with Chrome, Edge, or Opera on both Windows and Macs. I haven’t been able to get it to work on a Linux computer.
To use this tool, select the four .BIN files supplied in the firmware zip file for your product and enter the memory address that is embedded in each file name. The tool will automatically recognize the ESP32 micro controller in your unit.
NOTE: On units with ESP32-S3 micro controllers (CTR2-MIDI, CTR2-Dial, and CTR2-Flex) you must press and hold the Program/Download button on the unit’s controller then press and release the Reset button to force the controller into program mode. CTR2-Micro and CTR2-Voice uses the ESP32-C3 processor and does not require this step. CTR2-Mini+ does not use the ESP32 processor.
The document below explains the process of using this tool to flash firmware to the ESP32 micro controllers I use in most of my CTR2 products. You can download a copy of this document by clicking on the Download button below the document. The operation manual for each CTR2 unit describes the method used with the EspressIF Flash Download tool software. Refer to those manuals for information on using that method.
